In October, I attended my first Create West Virginia Conference in Huntington WV. You can read more about the mission of Create and my experience above.
During the conference, I learned that several leaders from the City of Wheeling were very interested in bringing the 2010 conference to Wheeling. They were planning on meeting soon after the conference to develop a plan to attract the Create team to pick Wheeling for next year.
After several internal meetings, we met with three members of the Create team in Wheeling to present our plan. We met for lunch and listened to their vision for the program, and learned more about each other. Soon we led them on a tour of Wheeling’s Creative spots and possible conference locations. We had hoped to present our ideas and excite them for what Wheeling could do for 2010 and beyond. We also hoped to encourage a quick decision, so we could get to work!
I’m pleased to report that today I received an email from Joelle Ennis, confirming that Wheeling had been chosen to host next years conference! We’ll be meeting later this week to start planning for next year. I’ll keep you posted on our progress, and details as they emerge.
If the meetings we’ve held thus far are any indication, the 2010 conference is set to be one of the best yet!
